Bridgeport Crossroads – A Transportation and Land Use Study and Public Meeting

The Bridgeport Transportation and Land Use Study is a planning initiative to identify urban design, streetscape and multi-modal transportation improvements for the Bridgeport area. The goals of these improvements are to enhance the walkability, transit choices and neighborhood character within this 3.2 square mile study area.

This project area encompasses portions of four municipalities –  East Lampeter Township, West Lampeter Township, Lancaster Township and the City of Lancaster.

During this year-long planning process residents, businesses and community leaders will be invited to participate in community visioning meetings, two online surveys and identify preferred design alternatives. The initial project goals include:

  • Creating safer and more walkable streets
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce congestion and enhance roadway connectivity
  • Enhancing bikeways, trails, sidewalks, crosswalks and access to schools, neighborhoods and recreational area
  • Improving access to public transportation
  • Creating more vibrant places in the Bridgeport area

This planning initiative will lead to numerous implementation recommendations and four conceptual designs. The project web site,, will be launched in January of 2018 to highlight project goals, identify upcoming meetings and provide opportunities for community input. Please visit the website (when it becomes available) to get on the email list for upcoming events. The project is co-sponsored by East Lampeter Township, West Lampeter Township, Lancaster Township, City of Lancaster and PennDOT.
