Police Log-February 20 & 21, 2017

February 21st:

  1. Burglary, February 20, 2017, 600 Block South West End Avenue (LT) – A window was broken to gain entry to a residence in the 600 Blk of South West End Ave sometime during the afternoon of Feb 20, 2017. Electronics were taken.
  2. Theft from Vehicle, 9:30 a.m. February 20, 2017, 1300 Block Columbia Avenue (LT) – A smartphone was taken from an unlocked vehicle that was parked at a shopping center in the 1300 Blk of Columbia Ave. Occurred at approx. 9:30 a.m. Feb 20, 2017. Loss $450.

February 20th:

  1. Criminal Mischief, 5:18 a.m. February 18, 2017, 100 Block Jennings Drive (LT) – Emada R. Williams M/24 of Philadelphia, has been charged with Criminal Mischief after he broke the toilet and closet doors in his girlfriend’s apartment, resulting in $150 damage. Occurred at 5:18 a.m. Feb 18, 2017.
  2. Selective Enforcement Detail, February 17, 2017 (LT) – Six motorists were cited for speeding in the 100 Blk of Wilson Drive during a selective enforcement detail on February 17, 2017. The highest speed in this 25-mph zone was 42 mph.
  3. Vehicle Theft, February 17, 2017, 400 Block Conestoga Blvd (LT) – A powder blue Toyota Celica was taken from a driveway in the 400 Blk of Conestoga Blvd during the early morning hours of Feb 17, 2017. The vehicle had been left unlocked and the keys were in the car. Loose change was taken from another vehicle that was parked nearby.
  4. Thefts from Vehicles, Conestoga Blvd (LT) – A purse and a flashlight were taken from unlocked vehicles parked overnight Feb 16-17, 2017, in the first block of Conestoga Blvd. Loss $60.
  5. Hit and Run, 1:58 a.m. February 18, 2017, Parkside Avenue (LT) – At 1:58 a.m. Feb 18, 2017, officers responded to a crash in the first block of Parkside Ave and were advised that the driver had walked away from the scene. Arriving officers found Steve J. OConnor M/32 of East Orange Street, Lancaster, walking nearby and identified him as the driver. He was arrested and charged with DUI, Accidents Involving Damage to Unattended Vehicle, Public Drunkenness, and a traffic violation.
  6. Criminal Mischief, February 17, 2017, 600 Block South West End Avenue (LT) – The tires were cut on a vehicle parked overnight Feb 16-17, 2017, in the 600 Blk of South West End Ave. Loss $400.

Police Log-January 15, 2017

Thefts from Vehicles (LT) – Unlocked vehicles were entered overnight February 13-14, 2017, as follows:

  • 900 Block East Orange Street – Three vehicles; GPS and personal items taken. Loss $95.
  • 900 Block Clark Street – One vehicle; Loose change taken.

Residents are reminded to remove personal items or keep them out of sight, and to keep vehicle doors locked. It may not stop a theft, but it can deter.

Police Log-February 14, 2017

Vehicle Theft, 11:13 a.m. February 13, 2017, 1246 Millersville Pike (LT) – A Lancaster woman reported that she was having a medical issue and parked her car at the Regal Cinema, 1246 Millersville Pike. In her haste, she left the keys in the car and when she returned, the vehicle was gone. The theft occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. Feb 13, 2017. The vehicle is a green Pontiac Sunfire.

Police Log-January 30 & 31, 2017

January 30th:

  1. Hit and Run, 7:54 p.m. January 29, 2017, 1100 Block Columbia Avenue (LT) – A Lancaster man was walking in the 1100 Blk of Columbia Ave when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle, a Lancaster woman, later turned herself into police. The investigation is continuing; no charges have been filed.
  2. Criminal Trespass, 4:40 a.m. January 29, 2017, 1000 Block Columbia Avenue (LT) – At 4:40 a.m. Jan 29, 2017, officers responded to a residence in the 1000 Blk of Columbia Ave after a resident awoke to find a male inside his home. Officers arrived and arrested Male/21, of South Ann Street, Lancaster, without incident. They determined that he had broken a latch to enter the home, and then helped himself to food and drink before entering the resident’s bedroom, which is when he was discovered. He was charged with Criminal Trespass and Public Drunkenness, and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
  3. Burglary, 100 Block Dickens Drive (LT) – Forced entry was made to a residence in the 100 Blk of Dickens Drive sometime between Jan 7 and 28, 2017. A television and handgun were taken.
  4. Selective Enforcement Details (LT) – Officers conducted two selective enforcement details in Lancaster Township on January 26, 2017. In the 1600 Blk of Wabank Road, five motorists were cited for speeding in the 35-mph zone. The highest speed was 57 mph. In the 100 Blk of Schoolhouse Road, seven motorists were cited for speeding in the 25-mph zone. The highest speed was 46 mph.
  5. Hit and Run (LT) – A criminal complaint has been filed against Male/28 of Water Street, Washington Boro, PA. At 4:24 p.m. Jan 19, 2017, a Lancaster woman reported that she was struck from behind while on North President Ave at Marietta Ave. The vehicle that struck her fled, but a registration was obtained that led to the identification of the suspect. He has also been charged with two traffic violations.

January 31st:

  1. Burglary, January 30, 2017, 1400 Block Passey Lane (LT) – A television was taken from an apartment in the 1400 Blk of Passey Lane sometime during the day on Jan 30, 2017. Entry was made through a window.

Police Log-January 24, 2017

  1. Vehicle Theft, 12:47 a.m. January 23, 2017, 100 Block Jennings Drive (LT) – At 12:47 a.m. Jan 23, 2017, a resident of the 100 Blk of Jennings Drive observed a 16-year-old male backing her vehicle out of the driveway. The male had been temporarily placed in her custody by the court system, but did not have permission to use the vehicle. She ran after the vehicle and was able to open the door and put it into park. She then held him for the arrival of police. He was charged with theft and committed to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
