The Lancaster County Drug and Alcohol Commission has been serving the community for more than 35 years, fulfilling the mission to provide access to high quality, community-based drug and alcohol prevention/education services for all citizens and treatment services to uninsured and under-insured low-income citizens in an efficient and cost effective manner.
The office serves the addicted person in treatment, who has typically lost everything in life. This includes their job, family support, housing, health, and all other major aspects of life. Long term treatment is usually necessary for these citizens who need a helping hand in accessing a clean and sober life. Research supports that treatment works for as many people with this disease as other chronic diseases.
The office also serves all Lancaster County citizens by funding, developing, and managing prevention programs. The goal of prevention is to deter the onset of drug abuse and other related problems before they start.
