Paint, Toxic Product Containers

Paint, rust inhibitors, stains, turpentine, paint thinners, etc. are considered household hazardous waste, and should never be disposed of down any drain.

For disposal of hazardous or toxic product containers: 

  • If they ARE NOT empty, they need to be taken to the LCSWMA HHW facility for proper disposal. Empty containers are not accepted, and they do not accept items from institutions, industries or manufacturers.
  • If they ARE empty, the container(s) may be put in for recycling, but they MUST BE emptied & dried out to be recycled. 

Lancaster County Residents may use the HHW Facility to dispose of qualifying items for FREE.
