Tag Costs & Guidelines

Extra service tags are purchased at the township office during business hours–Monday thru Friday, 8am to 4pm.

  • YELLOW – $1.25 each, for each extra container or bag over the weekly limit of three.

Residents may put out more than three 32-gallon trash bags or cans; however, each extra container or bag over the weekly limit of three, must be marked with a YELLOW extra service tag. 

  • RED $4.00 each, for each over-sized refuse item. (No more than 2 items per week.)

Over-sized refuse items such as furniture, carpet (cut into 5′ lengths, rolled & tied), box spring/mattress, barbeque grills, bicycles, etc. will be picked up each week during regular trash collection. Each over-sized item must be marked with a RED extra service tag. Tags should be attached securely and in a place clearly visible to the waste hauler. No more than two over-sized items will be picked up at any one residence each week. Over-sized items too heavy to be lifted into a truck by two people will not be accepted.

  • Blue – $12.00 each, for each large appliance. (Special collection week–April and November.) Items too heavy to be lifted into a truck by two people will not be accepted.

Large appliances (also referred to as white goods) include washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, freezers, hot water heaters, air conditioners, furnaces, dehumidifiers, etc., and are not considered over-sized items. These items are picked up twice a year during a special collection week (typically April and November) on your regular trash collection day. Each appliance must have a BLUE tag attached. Collection dates are advertised in the newsletter, on the township website, and on the Penn Waste calendar. If you have an appliance for pickup during the scheduled week, you must notify the office at least two (2) business days in advance of your collection day in order to place your address and the item on the trash hauler’s pickup list.   • Purple – $2.00 each, for each tire . (Special collection week–April and November.) 

Tires are not considered over-sized items.  Tires are picked up twice a year during a special collection week (typically April and November) on your regular trash collection day. Each tire must have a PURPLE tag attached. Tires must be removed from the rims; no commercial truck tires are accepted. Collection dates are advertised in the newsletter, on the township website, and on the Penn Waste calendar.   • Many other materials used in the garden or in the home, such as pesticides, chemicals, paint, computers and accessories, cell phones, cameras, etc.,  are considered hazardous waste and should not be thrown in with household trash or recycling. They should be taken to the LCSWMA HHW facility for proper disposal.  For a complete list of these item, click here.   • Household construction or demolition waste cannot be put out with your regular trash/recycle pickup. You should make arrangements with the hired contractor to dispose of this material, or it should be taken to the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority transfer station at 1299 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA.
